IBM Cleveland is an interior office fit out of an office building outside of the center of Cleveland. The office building is within a few blocks of bus stops that connect the site to the inner city, north to the lake, and to the surrounding neighborhoods.

The interiors at IBM are designed to reflect the city of Cleveland grid, creating cross streets out of clearly defined walkways that organize the flexible and movable work spaces. The walkways are also positioned within the building to draw one’s eye out the windows to the city beyond, further enforcing the sense of the city grid being drawn into the building, and ultimately connecting the project to the city center and the lake.

The work space prioritizes productivity via flexibility, stand up desks, ergonomic chairs, well defined walkways large enough to give space for employee interaction, and defined breakout spaces. The space is designed as an agile interiors where all furniture is on wheels or easily moved by occupants. All furniture is highly efficient and movable to both allow for flexibility and for an extremely efficient work place resulting in approximately 80 gsf per occupant.

The project features daylight harvesting and varied lighting for healthy spaces and combating the long, gray winters.  The interior is designed to provide access to daylight and views from all workstations.

The design includes a biomimicry accent wall at a prominent entry and circulation path. All interior materials were selected to prioritize low-VOC and sustainable products. The major internal walk way also features a glass wall detailed to appear much like a green wall, providing a connection to nature throughout the space.

The office integrates state of the art MEP systems with dynamic and sustainable materials and flexible workstations to create a vibrant, healthy and contemporary home for the IBM team in this part of Cleveland.
