This project was designed as a research and development facility for a manufacturer of products and systems for railroads and rail transit operations.
This modern, three-story aluminum and glass office and research facility exemplifies an emerging "new breed" of production facilities, where systems and ideas are the end products. Located at the Pittsburgh Technology Center, the building is designed to take full advantage of the site's many amenities, including public plazas, tree lined river access paths and a river walk.
Check-out rooms on the first floor were designed to adapt to a variety of equipment configurations. Temperature control, computer cabling, and data security were key issues when designing these rooms.
"Labs" on the third floor are used for testing components. Workstations provide flexible, conditioned power and cable systems.
