The Times Building
Pittsburgh, PA

Size: 70,000 square feet

Services: Architecture, Interior Design

This project provides an adaptive re-use of an architecturally significant building, which previously housed a newspaper publishing facility, while maintaining the memory and spirit of its original design. The exterior building shell was restored, but the interior was altered to accommodate contemporary office and retail functions. The few remaining original interior details were preserved, but all new interior construction was executed in a distinctly contrasting style.

The original entry loggia was reconstructed by removing two ornamental iron grilles that had been placed in the stone arches in a previous renovation and relocating them to retail tenant spaces.

Custom lighting fixtures were designed to emphasize both the original and the new architectural details.
