20,000 square feet - Renovation and interior design of a speculative office building to house the headquarters of a manufacturing company
The new Matthews International offices combines three floors of corporate office functions into a single floor. The new office design provides an efficient and flexible space. The concept is to take advantage of the incredibel views of Pittsburgh's downtown and North Side by locating both executives and staff at the floor's perimeter and around common and shared spaces.
The design also recognizes Matthews' traditional heritage by showcasing its business. Bronze, a major component of one of Matthews’ product lines, was used as a trim in both the new construction and the furniture. Bronze statuary produced by the company forms the core of the corporation’s art collection.
In addition to the corporate office, The Design Alliance renovated the building lobby and upgraded the building systems.
